Starting from release 1508 it's possible to maintain measurements for Registered Products .

This feature is useful for maintenance scenarios where based on a reading an action has to be taken e.g., service a car once it has traveled 10,000 KM.

View and if required maintain Units of Measure :

SAP ships standard trading units and physical units . It's possible to create new units as well.

A fine tuning activity called Quantities and Units of Measure is used for this purpose .

Maintain Measurement Attributes :

The next step would be to maintain Measurement Attributes .e.g., Distance Traveled , Oil Temperature ,Air temperature, Air pressure etc.

Multiple measurement attributes can use the same unit of measure .

As shown in image below , we need to go to Administrator Work Center and then choose Service and Social

There is a list which will show all the measurement attributes in the system .

It's also possible to create new measurement attributes as shown in below image and once created they can also be edited .

Note : Characteristics in SAP ERP can be replicated as measurement attributes in SAP C4C .

Configuration needed to enable manual creation of Measurement Attributes from UI :

It's possible to manually create Measurement Attributes from above UI only if the option to replicate Marketing Attributes from SAP CRM is switched OFF as shown below .

Note that both Marketing Attributes and Measurement Attributes are based on a single object called BusinessAttribute .

If this BC option is switched ON then user cannot manually create instances of BusinessAttribute from UI because this data will be replicated from SAP CRM.

The path for this activity is Communication and Information Exchange -> Integration with External Applications and Solutions -> Integration of Master Data ->

Do you want to work in your system with marketing attributes from SAP CRM.

Maintain Measurements in Registered Product UI:

Now we're ready to start maintaining measurements for a Registered Product.

As you can see in below image the Registered Product has a facet called Measurements .

Here we can maintain the reading types (or measurement logs)  and its corresponding readings .

First we maintain measurement logs . For instance , we can create a log called Odometer Reading by using the measurement attribute Distance Traveled .

Multiple measurement logs can be maintained for a particular Registered Product .

Note ;

The corresponding object in SAP ERP is called Measuring Point and it can be replicated from SAP ERP to SAP C4C .

The Business Object in SAP C4C is called MeasurementPoint and it's available in Cloud Application Studio .

The last step is to maintain readings . Multiple readings can be maintained for a measurement log .

For instance , after servicing the car the technician can maintain the odometer reading along with the date on which this reading was taken .

As you can see , for the measurement log Odometer Reading , 2 readings have been created corresponding to the 2 times the vehicle has been serviced.

Note ;

The corresponding object in SAP ERP is called Measurement Document and it can be replicated from SAP ERP to SAP C4C .

The Business Object in SAP C4C is called MeasurementDocument and it's available in Cloud Application Studio .
