How to setup access restriction to a custom object by business role ?

Hi experts,

I would like to know how I can restrict the access to a custom object records, in the same way as what can be done with Account through the territories.

So I have created a custom object, and I want that some users (with a given business role) can read only a subset of records of that object, and that some other users (with a different business role) can read another subset of that custom object records.

How can I do that ?
